Slow Cooker Onion Ranch Chicken
**PICTURES UPDATED MARCH 2022*
When I changed my eating habits and really started to look at the labels on foods I have been eating for years, I was shocked! Simple things like seasoning mixes were laded with sugar and weird chemicals I had no idea to pronounce. One of my favorite things to use in cooking was ranch powder and it was now off my shopping list forever! In the past, I had made this delicious chicken that used ranch powder and onion soup mix powder, and I just loved the combination. So I had to find another way to get my fix of everyone's favorite dip seasonings.
This seasoning mix is amazeballs, it is so flavorful and you will end up putting it in tons of things. You can even mix it with some nut yogurt or cream cheese to make a dip and get all chip happy (only in your food freedom)! Random fact, my aunt nicknamed me chip and dip girl because I loved me some chips and sour cream based dips. Back to this, it is dead simple to get together a mason jar full of the seasoning mix and you want to have that jar.
The chicken is so simple and you can totally season it and pop the bird into the slow cooker first thing in the morning and come home to dinner. With summer peeking its head out with 100 degree days here already, I am all about a slow cooker dinner, no heat and hands off cooking. Mama sweats at the gym, not in the kitchen! Serve this with some salad, grilled veggies, or whatever your heart desires and heat allows for! Plus this baby gives some darn good leftovers, which I will have a recipe for on Thursday that you cannot miss!
Slow Cooker Onion Ranch Chicken
Inspired by Frugal Girls
Onion Ranch Mix
6 Tablespoons dried chopped onions
6 Tablespoons dried parsley
9 Tablespoons onion powder
2 Tablespoons granulated garlic powder
2 Tablespoons cracked pepper
4 teaspoons kosher salt
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
2 teaspoons dried chives
3 teaspoons dried dill weed
- Place all spices into a mason jar, cover, and shake to mix.
Slow Cooker Chicken
4-7 pound whole chicken
5 Tablespoons Onion Ranch Mix
3 garlic cloves
1 teaspoon smoked paprika + more to sprinkle
- Prep the chicken by removing the innards, pat dry with paper towels. Combine the Ranch Onion mix and the paprika in a small bowl.
- Season both the inside and outside of the chicken with seasoning mix. Throw the garlic in the chicken cavity. Sprinkle with a little extra paprika on the outside and place into the slow cooker.
- Cook on LOW for 8 hours or HIGH for 4 hours. Remove from slow cooker and shred!
See what I mean about fast and easy? Toss the seasoning on there, throw in the garlic, and sprinkle a little more paprika for color and flav-a! I opted for quicker route and cooked her on high. Perfect every time!
