Fun Rice Treats
Rice Cereal Treats are nostalgic, delicious, and a crowd pleaser. Believe me that these are the best treats you have ever made, I had so many people agree these are epic. They use sprinkles, extra marshmallows, and some cake mix to push it over the edge. The best part is you can customize them for whatever season or holiday, the stores always sell special funfetti cake mixes. These are celebrating the Spring and Easter because we are excited for warmer weather here! I made these in a 9x13 glass dish which made them extra thick, if you want them thinner, just use a bigger dish! If you need them gluten free, just use a GF cake mix. Dairy free peeps can use plant-based butter, I have made them with DF butter and it works perfectly.
Fun Rice Treats
5 tablespoons butter
10 cups mini marshmallows, divided
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup Funfetti cake mix
6 cups rice cereal
3 tablespoons sprinkles
pinch of salt
In a large pot, melt the butter on medium-low heat, then add in 7 cups of marshmallows, vanilla, and pinch of salt. Lower heat to low and stir until all melted. Prepare your dish by placing foil and spraying with oil
Remove from heat and stir in cake mix until all incorporated. Then pour in the cereal, stir carefully, sprinkle in the remaining 3 cups marshmallows and some of the sprinkles.
Carefully pour the treats into your dish and press down with oiled hands to make it even and compact. Sprinkle more sprinkles on top and press in.
Let rest for at least 30 minutes before slicing and enjoy!
We took a 3-ingredient dessert and added a couple more to make them epic! You can choose your sprinkles and cake mix to best suit the season or occasion.
