Souplantation Salad
Souplantation or Sweet Tomatoes (same company, different names in different states) was one of my all time favorite restaurants. It was a super sized salad bar with soups, baked goods, and the best soft serve ice cream. We would go there after church every Sunday and it was always so good, I actually created this salad and have literally been making and eating it since I was 6. So when the world seemingly ended and buffet restaurants became a thing of the past, my beloved restaurant closed all locations. I was so sad but it had honestly been years since I had it, there was only one location in Texas, in Houston, so I only went during our short time there. Once they were officially gone, I knew I had to make my signature salad at home to give me all the feels.
This salad is so freaking good and the dressing tastes just like their famous Ranch so I totally hit a home run and now I can get a taste of Souplantation anytime I have a craving. This can easily be made gluten free, dairy free, vegan, or even low carb. Just use gf or low carb pasta and leave off the croutons or a plant-based cheese for your salad swaps. Use your favorite dairy free and vegan ranch dressing in place of the buttermilk ranch below. This is another non-recipe recipe other than the dressing but I feel like salads, you need to go with your heard. This is super fun to make as a make-your-own salad bar, perfect for kids and having a casual night with friends over.
I need to recreate their focaccia pizza, blueberry muffins, and some of their soups too! What was your favorite restaurant as a kid?
