Steak and Potato Bites
Meat and Potatoes is one of the most classic things and why not enjoy it as a small bite at a party? This is so simple to make and have for all your guests. Plus this sauce is horseradish and pairs perfectly with the steak and potatoes, creamy and spicy! This is gluten free, dairy free, and Whole30, but ultimately, it is so delicious, who cares if it fits with a diet!
Steak and Potato Bites
12 mini potatoes or small chunks of a red or Yukon gold potato
1 Tablespoon oil
1 NY Strip steak
salt and pepper
2 Tablespoons prepared horseradish
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 teaspoon dried chives
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 clove garlic, minced
- Preheat the oven to 425 and coat the potatoes in oil, salt, and pepper. Roast for 20 minutes or until tender
- Season the steak liberally with salt and pepper on both sides.
- Heat a pan on high heat, once hot, add a splash of oil and then the steak, leaving a few minutes to create a brown crust, flip and cook on other side until desired doneness. Remove from the pan and let rest on a cutting board
- While the steak rests, mix the horseradish, mayonnaise, chives, pepper, and garlic to make a sauce.
- Place dollops of the sauce on your platter or a bowl with a spoon for guests to serve themselves. Cut the steak into cubes, place on the dollops or platter, top with a potato and skewer with a toothpick. Serve warm.
Here is my spread, I like the strip because it isn’t super expensive and it tastes delicious without a bunch of fat.
My potatoes were a little large for a bite so I cut them down. Just salt, pepper, and oil and roast, always delicious.
I love this sauce, I make it all the time for beef and lamb, it gives just a hint of heat with the horseradish
For parties, I like to cook my steak to about medium to medium-well, that way it will be perfect for most. I mixed up the sauce, seared my steak, and roasted the potatoes.
Just look at those crispy taters.
Sauce down and place the steak on top, like a mini fancy dinner!
