Chili Burgers
Who loves the flavor of Chili Burgers but hates how messy they end up? I have the solution that is perfect for all your burger cravings, put all that flavor in the PATTY! This is super simple and totally delicious, I felt like this was such a lightning bolt idea for me. I whipped up a little BBQ Mayo to serve with it, alongside some pepperjack and cheddar cheese on a brioche bun. It was HEAVEN! For you Keto/low carb peeps, leave that bun off and wrap all that goodness in lettuce, same for the Paleo/Whole30 crew, just omit the cheese. This is a recipe that your family will love, perfect for parties, watching football, and just a good burger craving answer.
This would also make awesome sliders, this recipe would make about 24 sliders, pop them on some Hawaiian rolls for something everyone will enjoy. I haven’t tested it yet but I bet you could make these with that Beyond Meat for your vegan and vegetarian crowd!
Chili Burgers
2 lbs ground beef (turkey would also work)
1 small onion, diced finely
1/2 cup sliced green onions
2 teaspoons granulated garlic powder
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1 teaspoon Taco seasoning
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
3 Tablespoons canned diced green chiles, drained
Toppings: creamy BBQ sauce (1:1 mayo and BBQ Sauce), cheddar cheese, pepper jack cheese, lettuce, Fritos, crunchy onions, jalapenos, sour cream, avocado or guacamole, caramelized onions, or favorite chili and burger toppings!
- In a large bowl, mix all ingredients together. divide into 6 equal portions and form into patties.
- Cook on a grill or in a skillet until desired done-ness.
- Serve with your favorites!
This spice mix is a fantastic basic chili flavor, I use it in my simple chili and it is crowd pleaser, not too spicy but full of flavor.
All that Chili goodness ready to be mixed up.
How I divide my meat mix is to pat it all down into an even level. Then I go in and half it, then each half into thirds with the side of my hand. This makes it easy to adjust if one portion is uneven. Then I just pick up each wedge and make it into a patty! I like to cook mine on the stove when it’s hot because I get eaten ALIVE by mosquitos. When it cools off, the grill is perfect for these babies.
